Cerebrovascular & Skull Base Surgery Clinical Fellowship![]() Program Overview:The Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington offers a Clinical Fellowship in Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Surgery. The Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Fellow is appointed as an Acting Instructor/Senior Fellow in the Department of Neurological Surgery. The fellowship will be under the supervision of Professor Laligam N. Sekhar, and will provide training in microsurgery and endoscopic surgery, and opportunity for research. It does not include any endovascular training. Eligibility Requirements:This fellowship is open to Neurosurgeons (MD or MD/PhD) who have completed training in the USA, or a foreign trained neurosurgeon who can obtain an unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the State of Washington. A strong interest in pursuing academic neurosurgery, and a track record of research and/or publications is a requirement to be considered for this position. Foreign trained neurosurgeons must also have completed USMLE’s Step 1, 2, and 3. All University of Washington faculty participate in teaching, research, and service. An H-1B visa is required for all graduates of foreign medical schools. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship of an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Selection Process:After the Fellowship Director has received all of the required documents (including: a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and names of two references), the program coordinator will contact the applicant to schedule an interview. Stipends & BenefitsVacation, pay, and benefit specifics will be discussed at the interview. However, the University of Washington offers a highly competitive compensation package.
